Lunar-Solar Atmosphere | the Last Quarter moon week, the Wood Element & the Fire Horse Year
Before getting into the mood/moon phases of this Aquarius Season week, another energetic shift in tone is unfolding that is worth some contemplation.
There are a couple of ways in which Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong align with seasons. I prefer the older way that aligns with the quality of light. In this method, the season switched from winter to spring a few days ago and from Water’s wisdoms to Wood’s growth, from kidneys to liver, and from patience to impatience.
Our daytime light is noticeably growing stronger after a long hibernation in the dark months. With an influx of light, we start to feel some urgency and a yearning for growth. This can come with frustration as we challenge what’s been stagnant. It can bring up anger when we feel thwarted, rage against the still hard and frozen earth. The key to finding footing in our growth over the next few months is through kindness. When anger flares and fire rises in our heads, we can ask where it is we need to soften in order to move.
Do you need to be kinder toward yourself? Toward a general frustration of stuck energy in you or your life? Toward others or a circumstance? I can say for myself, watching Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance gave me a dose of the right kind of fire in my head, positive energy I needed to feel things move, and something shift. His message of celebration, community, and love being stronger than hate inspired me to move beyond some of the anger that has built up during this crazy time in the US.
Of course, there is still vigilance I feel in wanting to use my voice and fight the empire, but where it is coming from shifted. In true Aquarius Season fashion, I feel a brittleness shaking off. I feel like I am envisioning the future I want, the way I want to feel in community, the celebration, care, love, and joy that can be used as a form of rebellion. Love is rebellion when there are so many dark shadows plaguing the world. My body can move and dance and feel free, even if the circumstances around it are contrary to feeling free. To dance in joy is to flip off the empire that feeds on our fear and anger.
Find your growth as the wood element unfolds through softening and kindness and being present in the celebration of the moment. Get unstuck and rid your anger through moving, breathing, and loving.

On this note, the Fire Horse year has arrived! We can start to gallop through life with grounded rhythm, headiness, and wild abandon. While the Chnine Lunar New Year is at the second new moon after the winter solstice, the astrological animal arrives when the sun is at 315° of the Tropical Zodiac, which is typically February 3-4. Aquarius Season’s Last Quarter Moon Week
This week starts at the last quarter moon—the autumn phase of Aquarius Season. It’s time to commune, share, get feedback, make adjustments, and consolidate our resources and power. In Aquarius Seaosn, this relates to collectives, liberation, free thinking, and originality. Share more within your groups. Invite others into your collectives. Share what your collectives have been up to. Notice how the world is responding to your collaborations. Be more open and willing to share your originality with others. The wacky, unconventional, experimental side of you that you may not even realize is there until you share it.
By midweek, the power of groups and collectives will be investigated. Maybe we’ll uproot more clearly, the way certain collectives have wielded power in secret. By the end of the week, vision and wisdom, story and perspectives will be found around the futures we dream of, the collective dreams, the hope we seek, the liberation we aim for.
It’s also worth noting that eclipse season is quickly approaching. By next week, we will be in a wildcard time of endings, pivots, shadows, and reroutes that are ultimately leading us to rebirths. With the head of the eclipse axis being in Pisces, we are processing the shadows of shadows, the closets hidden in closets, the most secretive of things that can be difficult to witness and believe. Headline Transits
A big moment arrives at the end of this week with Saturn moving into Aries for the next 2 1/2 years. More than that, a week from this move, on February 20th, Saturn and Neptune, both newly in Aries, will meet up to plant a new seed around our spiritual, mystical, and inspired constructs—how our ideals merge with what we build as our reality. These two planets meet once every 36 years. They haven’t met in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac ruling rebirth and new order, since 1703. Astrologer Jessica Adams just wrote an interesting article about events at that time that could echo in the coming months. She also highlights charts of countries and individuals, likely to be impacted by this massive transit.
Venus in Pisces, Tuesday, February 10th - March 6th (3:18 am MT)
Venus is exalted in Pisces and loves to love here. Softness, surrender, forgiveness, and ethereal beauty permeate the air with roses, filling perceptions of our 5 senses with dreams and a diffuse sensibility.
Venus, in her current Aries Heronine’s Journey, is starting to see clearly through her heart. She is seeing beyond objectivity and objectifying, owning projections, and integrating something unnamed that elevates her fierce protection of life and love. Mercury conjunct the North Node in Pisces, Thursday, February 13th (12:05 am MT)
Just as Mercury emerges from nebulous territory behind the north node, it also moves into pre-retrograde shadow. Enjoy some clarity and direction in your schedules, plans, and mind, but don’t initiate totally new ideas. This phase of Mercury is great for refining ideas already in motion, not conceiving of new things to begin.
In its current Trickster’s Journey, Mercury is helping us wield our powerful minds more altruistically and for the good of life. The purpose of the powerful information and connections we’ve been investigating, uprooting, and weilding become something that is a duty rather than for glory. Our name attached to things potent and powerful has never been the point. We start to see where we are meant to serve the collective with our access to power, versus gain something personally from it.

Saturn in Aries, Friday, February 13th - April 2028 (5:11 pm MT)
Our sense of structure and reality finally moves out of nebulous, complex, and ending territory. In Aries, what we make plans and goals to build becomes fresh, passionate, and forward-moving. We’ve been wading in a sense of structureless structure, timeless time, and endings to tie up in our aspirations. While the year’s chart still holds this imprint, there will be some new traction coming through, especially if you have points or planets in the first degrees of Aries. It’s time to clear some debris from structures that have fallen so that new blueprints can be drawn.
In its current Pisces-themed journey, Saturn, our Initiate archetype, moves from wading in nebulous healing to taking action to do what it knows needs to be done in tying up complex issues in our realities and responsibilities. Follow the current Initiate’s Journey more closely to understand how the structure of your life might feel like it’s wading through a threshold that’s hard to name, especially if you are a Capricorn/Aquarius Sun/Rising.
