A Week of Deep Reflections

December 8 - 14, 2025

Lunar-Solar Atmosphere | From productive to reflective

Things are maturing and productive as we enter the week with the Moon in waning gibbous phase, akin to summer and ripening—our perspectives, stories, and wisdom are finding their use and goodness.

As Luna enters Virgo in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, we ease up, relax, and reflect, especially once we reach the last quarter moon, as well as the Moon crossing the south node, on Thursday afternoon. Karmic issues could feel critical, and there could be some edits that feel clear and final in this mid-week time, but the weekend is primed for softness and nice communal cheer.

Venus has a strong moment this week as she crosses over the south bend of the lunar nodes in Sagittarius, reaching into Capricorn in the Draconic Zodiac. In the soulful undercurrent, after Wednesday night, our sense of visionary beauty, adoration of what's foreign to us, philosophical values, and fairness around our beliefs finds strength, foresight, and strictness. The value of our viewpoints and perspectives is crystallizing. In the greater world, expansive financial deals could be aligning and succeeding.

On Sunday morning, Mars, the planet of motivation and action, will move to Capricorn. What holds integrity, foresight, and time-tested credentials will be where we focus our actions. Align your focus and assertions toward long-term plans, goals that require actionable steps, and moving your aspirations forward with impulse and passion. On a slightly less optimistic note, this does give military and/or strongman energy power to execute their aims. Mars loves order and action. It's not inherently the good or bad guy—it just wants order and direction. Let's hope we have just as many strongman foresightful plans on the side of humanity as there are tyrants right now.

In the last hours of this week/first hours of next week, Mercury will move to Sagittarius, moving our minds from investigations and thinking about intimacy or wealth into ideas of perspective, belief, and narrative. More on that next week.

Journey With the Moon | Remember Who You Are

While moon phases help us tap into the ebb and flow of the solar season, the Moon—outside its ties to the Sun—has its own reflective cycle about recognition. To tap more deeply into memory, feeling, and intuition—how we anchor an embodied knowing of the zodiac into us—head over to the current Lunar Journey (The Memoirist's Journey). We are in the last week of the Scorpio Lunar Journey:

Headline Transits

Mars square Saturn, December 8th (5:15 pm MT)

From the tail end of Sagittarius to the tail end of Pisces, our inner action-Jackson (Mars) and Steady Eddie (Saturn) are challenging each other. Mars, especially, utilizes its Sagittarian foothold in actionable narratives and expansions to push toward more integrated understandings of complex and illusory structures. These two planets last met up in the early degrees of Pisces in early 2024. Order and structure, corporation and good soldiers have been wading in murky shadows. While this square highlights their shared goal of integrating what has been learned, it also emphasizes the importance of reflection and karma. This week could introduce a time when action-based plans and structures have to be accountable, or at least have a mirror held up to them.

Mercury opposed Uranus Rx, December 10th (1:00 pm MT)

A day or two away from stepping out of post-retrograde shadow, Mercury will face off with Uranus. Stretch your mind. How are collective values confronting your ideas of wealth and power? What radical notions about personal worth are shaking your notions around sharing and merging?

Mars square Neptune, December 14th (4:43 am MT)

We end the week with another Mars square, this time with Neptune, master illusionist in Pisces, sign of media and illusion. While there are many ways to think of Mars personified (a soldier, general, warrior, pioneer, entrepreneur), I also sometimes think of this planet as a walking epinephrine shot. When controlled and thoughtful, it behaves more like cortisol—on high alert, but measured and sustainable. When ungrounded or untrained, more like adrenaline flipping into fight/flight/freeze at the drop of a needle. In relation to Neptune, Mars is on alert for what's real versus not real. It is either taking action to peel back the layers and see clearly in the fog, or reacting with immediacy to any conspiracy or media manipulation thrown at it. With this returning square, similar to Mars's square with Saturn, we are starting to wise up with some lessons learned as well as facing some karmic mirrors—reflections that help us to see the context around where our impulses and instincts around glamours are measured or not.
